Today the Hon Speaker of GKM , Cllr N Mgema presided over an ordinary council meeting at Qumrha Community Hall.

Right before outlining his presentations, Hon Mayor announced to the meeting that the Municipality has received Awards in the space of a year and he had brought those to the council meeting as these were not just his awards but the awards of council.

“These awards that I present to you today are the result of the hard work that has been taking place in the municipality. Councillors, and Administration have ensured that they work together and that is why we have these awards. We acknowledge that the Awards and Clean Audit don’t necessarily translate to servicing all our wards as much as we would like, however that is a budgetary constraint issue, with the very little that we have we always ensure that we use our entire budget and never have to take money back to treasury.“ the Awards are:

SALGA certificate of Recognition for receiving a Clean audit for the 2024/25 Financial Year
SALGA certification fate of Leadership presented to Hon Mayor for recognition of outstanding leadership, commitment and dedication in advancing good governance, accountability and excellence within the municipal sphere for the 2024/25 financial year
A trophy from Auditor General South Africa

Hon Mayor Cllr Tekile then presented the following reports for consideration by council:

❗️THE APPOINTMENT OF THE SPLUMA ALIGNED AUTHORISED OFFICIAL

❗️THE GREAT KEI MUNICIPALITY ENCROACHMENT ON MUNICIPAL LAND BY-LAW

❗️REPORT ON THE PROPOSED LAND DEVELOPMENT IN QUMRHA FOR A FOOD DRIVE-THRU- This Proposed development of a drive thru with convenience store/s and ATM was approved by council. It will be taken out on tender.

❗️REPORT ON THE APPOINTMENT OF IKHAYA DEVELOPMENT PROPERTIES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SHOPPING COMPLEX IN KEI MOUTH. This item was brought to Council to be rescinded. Council rescinded the decision and agreed that it be taken out on tender again.
