School Uniform Handover.

Today the Hon Mayor of GKM Cllr NW Tekile accompanied by Ward 4 Cllr Twani were in Lusasa for the handover of school uniforms to 30 school children.

This initiative has been made possible through a partnership between GKM and Standard Bank.

School Principal Mr Mbadlanyana welcomed parents, scholars and the delegation from GKM.

Hon Mayor then got into the purpose of the day “as a municipality with minimum resources, we cannot do everything we would like to do, so we have have strategic partnerships which we value, because through their Corporate Social Responsibility programmes we are able to ensure that we make a difference in our communities” Today we are therefore here to hand over these 30 uniforms. He further mentioned that though our partnerships with Businesses, we have been able to handover to 9 schools this year.

Mr Badiyana, District Circuit manager who was also in attendance thanked the municipality for today. He thanked the municipality for being part of the 3 legged pot schooling system (School, Parents and Children) by providing assistance such as today. “Siyabulela kwabasomashishini, as BCM education district we would like to thank the Municipality and the Businesses that have continued to put a hand in improving the lives of our school communities”

Mr Layita from the Special Programmes Unit at the Department of Education thanked the municipal leadership “Bazali bakwaLusasa, ndimele Nina ukubulela kakhulu kuMaspala no Standard Bank ngeli galelo. Abantwana abezi eskolweni kuba bengena uniform behlekwa ngabanye, lento izakuba negalelo kuba attendance will improve which improves results, so that abantwana bakwaLusasa have a fighting chance to leave the village go to varsity and attain skills to help develop Lusasa.

Hon Mayor then Handed over the uniforms to the learners which were selected by the school.
