- Chintsa East: Area 16 & 17 internal streets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
We did not end there, we invested a lot on yellow plant and fleet in order to fast track service delivery. Today we have:<\/p>\n

- 2 additional Service Delivery Heavy Duty Machinery (Skip Bin Truck and Front-End Dozer) to assist on implementation with waste management plan;<\/li>\n
- Low bed Horse & Trailer;<\/li>\n
- Heavy Duty Grader;<\/li>\n
- 2 additional Vehicles for Traffic Officers;<\/li>\n
- Vehicle for Law Enforcement;<\/li>\n
- and Bakkie for Technical Services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The economic development of Great Kei Municipality has been significantly bolstered by various initiatives, notably the establishment of a large abalone fish farm, which I visited last week. The farm is doing very well and has created over 200 job opportunities for our residents, including youth. This investment has not only provided much-needed employment but also contributed to the sustainable use of our marine resources. Additionally, infrastructure improvements brought by SANRAL (Kei Cuttings, R63 & N2) \u2013 will enhance connectivity, facilitate trade and attract further investment. This huge investment has created 556 jobs.<\/p>\n
Ladies and gentlemen I can not forget to over emphasize the confidence I have in the Municipal Accounting Officer. I told him not to sit in the office, but to go out there hunting for investors and financial assistance. Indeed he took heed of the instruction. Siqinisekisiwe nguCogta that if we spend 50% of that allocation by May 2025, we will be given another R50 million in 2025\/2026 financial year.<\/p>\n
In addition to that, sineSPV esingene kuyo as the Council of Great Kei nabameli bayo abalapha abamelwe yiOGONE Pty Ltd. The SPV has been signed by the municipality. Sithetha nje they will be bringing various projects, including Ambulance Services, Mobile dialysis, Organic Waste Renewable Energy etc\u2026..bazozidakanca ngokwabo ezinye izinto abaza nazo. The spirit of excellence in our municipality ingqinwa naziAudit Opinions that we have maintained for the past 4 consecutive years and special recognition we received from the MEC as being one of the Best performing municipalities. Akuphelelanga apho, our municipality has received special recognition from National Auditor General Tsakani Maluleke, for its committed continuous improvement in quality of financial statements submitted for Auditing. Allow me to quote direct comments of the National Auditor General as follows:<\/p>\n
\u201c Great Kei Local Municipality (Eastern Cape) had a stable finance unit headed by a committed Chief Financial Officer who ensured that the quality of the financial statements improved every year and that all finance staff were accountable for their responsibilities. The municipality also implemented our audit recommendations through an audit action plan, and implemented controls to improve the overall control environment, such as preparing mid-year financial statements supported by the necessary information. Due to these actions, the municipality submitted financial statements with no material misstatements in 2022-23.\u201d<\/p>\n
